Spring Field Trip South 2009
On Thursday, April 2, 2009, students and faculty from the Department of Horticulture will be departing Blacksburg, heading south to visit some of the finest gardens and landscapes in the Carolinas. Along the way, we'll stop in at the JC Raulston Arboretum at NCSU, Duke Gardens, Sandhills Community College Gardens, the resort at Pinehurst, Middleton Place, Historic Charleston, resorts at Hilton Head Island, the North Carolina Arboretum, and the gardens at Biltmore House. We visit the cities of Raleigh, Durham, Charleston, Savannah and Asheville.
How much does it cost?
The cost per student is $130. There is a sign-up sheet on Robert McDuffie's office door (106B Saunders Hall). You may pay immediately for the trip with a check made out to "Treasurer, Virginia Tech." Payment is due by Wednesday, March 18. Seats are limited and will be assigned on a first come first served basis when payment is received.
The cost of the trip includes transportation, all breakfasts, all entrance fees, and lodging (3 people per room). The inexpensive cost of the trip is due to a generous grant from the Horticulture Club at Virginia Tech.
Transportation will be in two 12 passenger University vans.
